Gemstones Professional Development

The Young New Zealanders Foundation offers professional support following the introduction of Gemstones into a school. Professional support is offered in a variety of ways.

1. Training DVD - "A Teachers’ Guide to the Journey"

This DVD has been produced for teachers as an introduction to the Gemstones programme. It comprises A Teachers’ Guide to the Journey and Student Testimonials.

"A Teachers’ Guide to the Journey" discusses:

• What Gemstones is about.
• How to get the best out of Gemstones.
• How Gemstones fits into the curriculum

Student Testimonials: Young people, who have been through Gemstones’ talk about how the progaramme has helped them.

At the end of the DVD "A Teachers’ Guide to the Journey", you will be told how to get a further 5 free copies of the book "Gem of the First Water", by Ron Phillips.

2. How to get copies of the book "Gem of the First Water", by Ron Phillips

We now supply 3 copies of Gem of the First Water in each kit. Further copies may be purchased from www.tsi.co.nz.

3. Staff meetings

We offer 2 one-hour sessions per school subject to the availability of a trained Gemstones resource teacher.

4. Half day seminars

Where a group of schools wish to work together to explore the potential of the programme, the Young New Zealanders Foundation will supply a trained Gemstones resource teacher to facilitate a half-day workshop in their area, (subject to the availability of a trained Gemstones resource teacher).

5. On-line help-desk

In addition each school can apply for a copy of  "Research and Professional Practice" which contains four papers on applied TSI.
