An Introduction to Family Focus:

First released in 2007 as new material this is another work currently under review with consideration to improving its availability throughout the country. 

It is a good piece of wisdom that tells us to light a candle rather than complain about the darkness!  In the Young New Zealanders Foundation we have long been concerned about the incidence of abuse among children and young people, and the destructive effect this can radiate throughout society.  In November 2000 the Foundation (then Safer Streets Trust) published a resource "No Excuse For Abuse!" and made this widely available.  This booklet offers further activities parents and caregivers can do with their children.  It is our hope that it will give families the opportunity and help they need to equip the children in their care to keep them safe from any form of abuse.

This booklet includes a very brief introduction to an understanding of abuse.  The topic is dealt with more fully on the Foundation's website www.NoExcuseForAbuse.com presentation. A briefer revised edition of this material is also available widely in the booklet entitled, "Keeping Kids Safer", which can be obtained, free of charge, from your nearest Police Education Officer.
